As a musician I mourn the loss of music as an auditory art. But the fact remains that music videos have changed the contrivance we listen to and learn music, so we must work with it. This video is a fantastic procedure to introduce children to classical music and the orchestra without them thinking that it’s tedious, or not generous of their time.
Kirstie Alley plays the mother of a 12-ish boy who travels aid to the home where she grew up to visit her father (Lloyd Bridges) . The boy has never met his grandfather. They utilize some time visiting and the topic turns to “The Memoir”. The tale is, of course, “Peter and the Wolf”. Kirstie Alley narrates the narrative, dramatized by animation done by Chuck Jones (Bugs Bunny) . The animation is astonishing, the characters are endearing and silly (with Kirstie Alley doing well-behaved voice-overs for the hysterically dizzy duck and the cat) . The share when the duck is eaten by the wolf is handled very subtley, and, unlike the unusual fable, has a jubilant ending for the duck, making it appropriate for very young kids. I jabber K-8 and have shown it to all grades, who have enjoyed it. I personally have seen it about 30 times, and it remains original and keen. A nice feature for music teachers is that the racy storyline is 30 minutes long, allowing you to present unbiased that piece of the video within a class period. I highly recommend this video for parents and teachers alike who want to introduce children to classical music. They’ll be learning without them even vivid it!

re-released DVD reissue of this “Peter and The Wolf” for my 6 year-old
grandson, and not only did he admire it, but so did I!! I am a
professional violinist and music educator, and know this salvage inside
and out. The previous reviewer who said the producers had changed Prokofiev’s music is monotonous sinful — it is notice for imprint perfect, and in addition, is beautifully played. (It was actually Disney’s version that was sever!!)

The characters in Chuck Jones version, designed by Mr. Jones, are
delightful — and not honest a recycling of his Warner Bros., ensemble.
The entertaining anecdote, which is the centerpiece of this production, and
where Prokofiev’s come by plays out in entirety, is magical. And Kirstie
Alley’s narration is pudgy of life and spirit — really extraordinary. I
also loved Lloyd Bridges as the grandfather, and young Ross Malinger as
both the live action and titillating Peter. The live action parts were
magical, and gave some real-life relevance to the racy sage, and
the ending was absorbing. It brought a prance to my survey. Ross Malinger
was endearing in “Sleepless In Seattle,” and he goes to the next step
here. And his rapport with Lloyd Bridges seemed so very steady. A
fantastic bonus to this production is an fantastic “Guide To The
Symphony Orchestra” bonus feature at the ruin, which thoroughly explains
to the young viewer how Prokofiev mature the musical instruments to
portray the various characters. And the producers wisely employ YOUNG
teenage musicians to prove the instruments, which really makes it
come to life for young viewers. I Googled for more information on this
production — I can’t figure out why it isn’t more frequently seen. I
noticed it won the Emmy for Best Children’s Program, as well as many
other Emmy nominations and awards. I also saw that the critics gave it
great reviews — one from the Philadelphia daily newspaper called it
“The best children’s television special ever.” So it is a mystery to me
why this production is not a television classic. But in the meantime,
do yourself a favor — and for your children and grandchildren — and
watch it!

Firstly let me point out that there is a DVD version of EOD, several actually. The best version is the latest released this year which is a fantastic transfer and includes a documentary on the film, Magnox and has clips of interviews and award ceremonies and discussions on the series. It is on dwelling 2 DVD and is available from amazon uk. I too remember watching this masterpiece unfold when it was originally screened here in the uk. I was only 14 at the time and British television was aloof producing some improbable stuff. Even so I knew this was something extra special. It must have planted a seed in my subconscious. Incredibly in 2003 it has lost none of its power and seems impartial as prescient now as ever. The callous disregard for the individual by corporations, the ‘great game’ played out between competing security agencies, the conspiracy of silence in the media. The ecology movement. The collusion of government with the malign constituents in our society. Ostensibly though this is peaceful the ‘little man’s story’ and what a central performance from the slack immense Bob Peck. His personal disintegration is harrowing to see as he tries to unravel the mystery. Joe don Baker, what can you say about his performance. He is utterly compelling as the ancient school agency man fighting to sustain his head above water. His verbal sparing matches with ‘arts council’ funded MI5’s Ian McNeice and Charles Kay (also worthy) are very very silly. Oh the script, what a script. Troy Kennedy Martin the writer provided the most consistently bright screenplay for television ever written. Martin Campbell the director sculpts it all into an entity that supplants the TV media. The DVD I saw previously to EOD was Leone’s masterwork Once upon a time in America and I can honestly say EOD which bares many similarities is correct up there alongside it. I don’t consider I could give this production a better accolade.
Probably the finest television drama series ever, ‘Edge of Darkness’ was 1985 made flesh – nuclear paranoia in a world gone enraged. Apart from the faces, not grand has dated, and even if the threat of nuclear annihilation seems less newsworthy, it’s quiet an splendid, taut thriller. Bleak and intellectual, it starts with a seemingly random abolish, and ends with the world on the brink of apocalpyse.
Everything works, and works well – the clever, non-linear direction is never annoying, the writing is colorful, everything progresses with brutal, frosty logic, and it all seems so mighty more serious, more ‘real’ than other television dramas of the time (with the possible exception of the early ‘Taggart’) . The acting is righteous – Joe Don Baker’s character may be a stereotype, but he makes it work, and the unhurried Bob Peck is almost disturbingly intense. It’s a shame that, for most people, he will be remembered as the sorrowful trapper from ‘Jurassic Park’ (or the narrator of countless nature documentaries) .
It remains with you when its over, the music is wonderful, and key images (nuclear trains at the dull of night, driving rain on the motorway, a room corpulent of telephones, a field of umbrellas, and cramped sunless flowers) haunt you forever.

Yes, this film is about as formulaic as they come: a tough, no-nonsense, battle-tested sergeant turning a bunch of misfits into an effective fighting unit. On top of that, we are treated (again) to a romantic aspect of a epic featuring a bitter, petulant ex-wife who unexcited harbors emotional attachment to that no-good ex of hers.
Yet HEARTBREAK RIDGE delivers an exciting story–along with some very humorous moments–thanks mainly to Clint Eastwood as the gravel-voiced Gunnery Sergeant Tom “Gunny” Highway. Certain, Eastwood brings brawn and plenty of knuckle sandwiches to this role, but also a fragile vulnerability that makes the character more three-dimensional. Eastwood carries this film, but that’s no problem: those shoulders are plenty ample.
Marsha Mason as ex-wife Aggie gripes and complains at a healthy clip, while Mario Van Peebles as soldier “Stitch” Jones stands out from the rest of Gunny’s dysfunctional Recon Platoon. HEARTBREAK RIDGE has action, drama, and plenty of laughs. Sounds like a winning Eastwood formula to me.

Clint Eastwood directed and starred in the lead role of this film about a “salty,” battle-hardened career sergeant who whips a platoon of unique Marines into shape. Along the intention, he attempts to repair his failed marriage and locks horns with the Marine Battalion’s Operations Officer.
Eastwood is Gunnery Sergeant Highway, a Korea and Vietnam musty who won the Medal of Honor and survived a horrific battle in Korea referred to as “Heartbreak Ridge” in the film. He’s a warrior on the battlefield, but his aggressive, hard-drinking and “tell-it-like-it-is” personality has cost him promotion and his marriage. Nearing retirement, he receives orders to return to his elite specialty of Force Reconnaissance. Upon arrival, the battalion’s operations officer treats Gunny as a washed-up former prima donna and he finds his unique platoon comprised of misfits. On the personal side, Gunny’s ex-wife smooth resides locally earning a living as a cocktail waitress.
Tackling his main plight, he commences to breathing fire into his young Marines, turning them into “heart-breakers and life-takers.” During his off-time, he tangles with his ex-wife in an attempt to repair their failed marriage. All during this time, he’s one step away from being under-mined and kicked out by his nemesis.

The film culminates with their deployment to intervene the crisis on the Island of Grenada (accurate operation in 1983), leading the draw into combat for the Marine battalion. It is here where the position unfolds to explain if Gunny’s old-school training methods have worked, if his wife decides to return, and if he’ll survive.
Overall, the movie has Eastwood’s tag of humor and it’s a likeable feature not to be taken too seriously. There are some technical flaws, such as an absence of other officers in the battalion, but this doesn’t spoil the movie too distinguished unless you’re a proud member of the Marine Corps. Another item about this movie is the utilize of profanity; it’s knowing and there’s plenty of it. By rumor, this account was originally written for an Army Ranger battalion, but apparently the Army denied permission to record their Rangers in this fashion. Whatever the case, it’s toothsome to peer and does touch upon some precise leadership values.

This is definitely a collection worth having. The information is presented in a positive manner and well narrated. A must have for all Mafia buffs.
This is a terrific DVD to have and glance if you would like to be informative on the Mafia’s history. This DVd space will define everything about movies such as The Godfather that might be confusing, as well as Mafia life in general. To reiterate my previous reviews, packaging is as always in safe create. The First Volume now has a snug four DVD cases inside of it on top of the music CDs and other memorabilia that could be stuffed without breaking it, which is a pleasurable thin when one must sink in about twice the standard edition trace.
It was a bit of a surprise that the bonus item was another pillow case, though the sleepover theme was more appropriate than the third volume (Yuki looks in particular divine) . Of the four bonus items, the first, brigade leader armband, is the current. Sizable practicality and easily compliments the school uniform should anyone want to cosplay as Haruhi.

Now on to the DVDs. I rather liked the English version of “God Knows,” and a thumbs up to Wendee Lee for singing both. “Live Alive” is the crutch episode of the three. Being also the first to peek, how the song goes situation the mood for watching the following two. And to that, “The Day of Sagittarius” is a popular for reviewing again and again. Ah, that Yuki. Finally, “Someday in the Rain,” probably the most wearisome episode of the bunch. What was the reasoning for this ending? I can’t train (Really, I can’t. Go read the novels if you can) .
Subtitles for the most portion is “fine.” Always with the yellow! Also something to imprint which I did not add in the other reviews, there are occasional text that enjoy essential meaning for the viewer to come by. Sometimes it’s not translated into English for risk of cluttering up the veil, and that is understandable. A bonus feature that could be very handy would like those translator notes found in some manga when a cultural disconnect requires explanation to the audience.
Who’s up for a second season?
This has to be one of the show’s release for this year, with the factual mix of Humour and special interest all in one, With the plan is was note in japan, and then release in USA it all makes more sense. The massive ammount of extra’s and the Extra DVD with Jap only with sub for unique TV release.

This present is basically Ah My Goddess meets Familiar of Zero. The narrative is basically the same as Goddess, a hopeless loser meets a goddess when a sculpture he carved out of a sacred tree turns into Nagi, a goddess who possessed the sacred tree. At first she’s upset the the tree is gone but after some experience in the human world she’s sparkling with it. But because the tree is gone it releases some creatures know as impurities upon the Earth and it’s up to Nagi and Jin( the hopeless loser from before) to defeat them. I don’t want to spoil the ending but this 13 episode series is pudgy of pleasurable laughs and dismal moments but it’s definitely a series worth picking up. Remember Nagi needs your faith to become more remarkable…

Set to the instruct of a whispering John Cusack, and an overly emotional find, “Besieged Fortress” uses “macro-photography” to allege the chronicle of ants versus termites. I’m not certain if there’s a pretense that the movie is any kind of documentary, I don’t deem there is, but the emotion and apprehension that the film tries to fabricate, for me, was plan too contrived.

If I’m execrable, to the filmmakers, I apologize – but watching this movie I could almost spy animal trainers dropping insects, and other animals, in the frame to add to storyline (isn’t that what Marlon Perkins was accused of? ) . It also looked like a splendid amount of CGI had been musty in some of the shots, but who am I to say.
I guess ultimately someone said, “Hey, we can catch spacious shots of insects close-up, but we’re not making a documentary, so who’s got a tale? ”

With made-to-order sound effects, emotionally overbearing music and blatantly planted scenarios it would require a substantial amount of knowing dishonesty for this movie to do anything but obtain you regret you didn’t rent or steal a genuine documentary.
Will most feel the same draw? Maybe not, fair don’t query to gaze a brilliant documentary. The footage is attractive at least.
If you like watching Discovery channel, this is proper up your alley. Definitely too drawn out in distinct parts and probably longer than it needs to be but awesome all the same. Who knew that Termites were an advanced society? Kinda joking, but it’s seriously incredible. I know one of the other reviews said something about CG, but I deem they honest sped up some parts and played with lighting effects. After all, if you go stake out a termite nest for 2 years your going to have some crazy wild life epic-ness occur. It’s not Hollywood type of drama, it’s ‘penguins’ type of drama. Ask dramatized documentary. Ta da.

This production is an worthy, fun overview of Hopper’s work, not overly esoteric, and with touches of Steve Martin’s trademark humor. (Martin is a Hopper collector.) Of particular interest to fans of Martin and Hopper is a brief allotment dealing with Martin’s homage to Hopper in Dumb Men Don’t Wear Plaid.
If you want sizable detail, this may not be exactly what you’re looking for. If you want an introduction or overview, this should work. The high-interest, visually inspiring nature of this makes it particularly excellent for exercise in schools.
I like Edward Hoppers work and was very jubilant to seek this and found it titillating as well as sharp. Highly reccommended.

For the first two series Torchwood was your standard solve the unfriendly region of the week series but that all changed with series three. First and foremost, the bigggest inequity is that there are only five episodes instead of the usual 12 but that is because all five episodes comprise one mini-series mega event where the BBC showed one episode each weeknight during a single week as opposed to one prove a week. Those are the minor technical differences and here are the stylistic differences.

Previous incarnations of Torchwood were a mix of frivolity, political thriller, and science fiction while series three puts the political thriller aspect front and center with the jokes and scifi taking supporting roles. The tone is emotionally taut, psychologically upsetting, and decidedly dark–all perfect motifs for a display designed only for adults. If you are wanting a Dr. Who style dart into the imagination where you come by a bit timid but return with a smile on your face this is not going to be to your liking at all because this time Torchwood takes us into a nightmare realm where many of the humans in charge seem more alien and threatening than the staunch aliens, who are definitely scary themselves, and that insures you won’t return from this lag with a smile unless you’re a sadistic freak. Does the darkness overwhelm the display? Not at all! As I said the political thriller aspect is front and center and its pacing almost feels like this is Torchwood 24, especially seeing how each episode represents one day of time so that by the slay of this series only five days have passed for the Torchwood crew.
Should you catch Torchwood series 3? Well if you are more of a fan of Dr. Who and only study Torchwood because it is a Who spin-off I’d wait and inspect it as it airs to do positive it isn’t too realistic to be delectable for you. If you lift Torchwood over Dr. Who then definitely establish your order in as you’re not likely to be disappointed with the direction RTD has taken the explain this time. Personally, this has been the best science fiction on the puny or big mask this year (I haven’t seen Moon yet so that could change) and maintain in mind I am a mammoth Trekkie and adored the unique Star Lunge movie! That’s true, a die hard Trekkie said Torchwood series 3 was better than Star Slouch the Reboot. Granted, Pace had better blockbuster visuals and area battles but Torchwood, by far, told the better narrative. I also deem the acting was better in Torchwood than Hump although there isn’t as titanic as a distance between the two as there was in dwelling quality.
This is not Torchwood. Torchwood 3 is a team captained by Jack Harkness who protect Cardiff from a rift in time and location. It is a science fiction expose filled with super gadgets and aliens and immense relationships.

Children of Earth is a political drama with none of the above. TPTB took away the Hub and all their toys so they couldn’t set aside themselves. They decided that the reveal was suddenly “Jack’s tragedy”. Terrible Jack can’t collect a break; they want to originate him into the Doctor (who? ) . They destroyed his home, his life and his character in the name of adult drama. They took an established demonstrate with an established place and established characters and changed the name of the game.
Of course people are upset. We liked our note, we liked our characters. We finally explore Ianto step up and become Jack’s equal, found out a bit about his background and then have it yanked out from under our feet. Then we are patted on the heads and told that we don’t catch to have an idea. It feels like now that Russell T Davies is done with Dr. Who, he decided to redo Torchwood after he practically admitted he ignored it for two years.
I can’t contain I waited so long for such disappointment.

I don’t understand how people didn’t like this movie…. I assume that serve. I put a question to that people didn’t like this movie because they expected something smarter. For the report, don’t seek information from this to be an quick-witted comedy. It’s not. At the same time, I consider it’s absolutely hilarious. I’m a firm believer in setting our have expectations. If you expected Twister to be some unbelievable, narrative film, then you were probably disappointed. If you expected it to be a movie about a tornado, you were most likely entertained. The same applies to this film. Don’t go in expecting an artistic masterpiece. It’s gross, rudimentary comedy, and it’s nice to be spoon-fed ridiculously “insipid” humor from time to time. I. Loved. This. Film. It’s ridiculous, unbiased don’t inquire of too remarkable.
Being a Will Ferrell fan, I was very disappointed in his last film “Semi-Pro.” However, I opinion this film brought encourage the craziness that I admire about Mr. Ferrell and gave some gigantic laughs. I saw this the night before my wedding with the guys in my wedding party and we all laughed like crazy. Suited stuff!
